Our goal for 2020 is to raise $25,000, which equates to the cost of the horse program. Let's help the Boggy Creek kids get to know and love horses as they attempt to heal physically and emotionally at camp.
I was approached by Nora Mask early in 2002 as she knew that I had been a volunteer at Seminole State Forest since its inception in 1994. The minute she told me her mission, I was all in! Her previous ride management and most competitions were CTR. In 2004, when we had 3 hurricanes, we were not sure we could pull it off due to the extensive tree fall, but we did.
The ride started as a CTR and switched to endurance several years ago. It has always been well supported by all distance riders. The focus and drive came from Nora and has always been about helping the Boggy Creek kids.
Sadly, Nora passed away this year, and we are dedicating the 2020 Autumn Gallop in her honor.
Whether you're a first-time rider or a seasoned one, the Autumn Gallop Endurance ride to Benefit Camp Boggy Creek is a wonderful cause and features a unique and fabulous facility, as well as a memorable ride.. Newbie riders are welcome!
Founded by Paul Newman and Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf, wonderful Camp Boggy Creek is a free camp for seriously and severely ill children. At Boggy they can enjoy fun activities, in a medically safe environment with other children that just like them. Camp Boggy Creek has family weekends in the winter months and week-long adventures during summer that include the opportunity to ride a horse, for many this may be the only time they will have to ride a horse. Some can’t even walk, but they can ride at Boggy! Camp Boggy Creek relies solely on donations so that no child or family ever pays for their time at camp!!!
Volunteers put in many, many hours to make this event successful. Please let the ride manager know if you can help too.
Event is capped at 50 riders, be sure to register early!
